Angels Haven Horse Rescue's mission is to save; and many times purchase, as many unfortunate victims of the horse world as we humanly can. We strive to rescue, rehabilitate and rehouse animals whenever and wherever we can. To that end, we will provide care for abused, abandoned, neglected, aged, and unwanted horses or those horses who can no longer be cared for by their owners for whatever reason. We accept them in any condition and do everything in our power to provide needed care and veterinary services.

Our goal is to make decisions that will help make the future for horses better than their past experiences. Our mission is to be a hub of education in humane horse care and training methods, alternative therapies, horse rehabilitation and rescue. The only way to stop the suffering is to teach people better ways of caring for their horses. Our organization's desire is to act as a center for horses to become healthy and move on to happy, productive lives and permanent loving homes.

Whether a horse is suffering from being severely beaten, abused, neglected, starved or just in a situation that requires a new environment, opportunity, or new option at life, we will help in any way possible. We need to place these horses in a loving and caring home were they can live a long and loving productive life. Every day young horses in there prime are starved to death, abused or sent to slaughter and sold for meat.

Here at the Rescue, we work with various organizations such as the girl scouts; helping them earn their horse badge, Indian guide and Princesses, local disaster teams, Kiwanis, Farm Bureau, preschoolers, and many more groups. Please call as to set up an event as we will be glad to teach and work with you and your group by providing a better understanding of these fine animals.

Angels Haven will provide them with what they deserve - TO LIVE A HEALTHY AND HAPPY LIFE!!

Petition to Change Laws Protecting Horses

To: Ohio State Legislature

We, the undersigned, believe the laws applying to the protection of animals are outdated and need to be reviewed and changed.

Recently, because of your current laws several horses where forced to be returned to a substandard situation. These horses were seized from a so-called Equine Rescue, where they were starved, forced to live in over crowed pastures, and to live in filth. These animals did not receive proper Veterinary care, and were left to fend for themselves in a pasture that was pure mud with not a blade of grass to be seen. The abuse and neglect was so obvious to hundreds of people not only in this state, but nation wide who followed this case, certain justice would be served. However, in this case, it was not. The laws, put in place by the State of Ohio failed to protect these animals and even allowed them to return to an abusive and neglectful home.

We are sure these are not the only animals that fell through the cracks of justice, but we sincerely hope they will be the last. If stricter laws had been in place, maybe those fourteen to fifteen horses would have been spared a life in squalor and neglect.

At the very least, laws should be in place to limit the number of horses that can be housed on acreage. Perhaps an acre per horse, as most laws of other states requires. It is in the interest of the animals that we ask the State of Ohio to please reflect on this petition and consider urgently revising the laws of this state to help protect the animals in the future. It is a major injustice that the laws condemned these horses, but maybe if revised, they can protect others in the future.
